Towners’ to unveil ex-Magpies

VIOLET Town will unveil ex-Collingwood players Chris Tarrant and Ben Kinnear for this weekend’s match against Tallygaroopna.
Tarrent, who retired at the end of the last season, will pull on the boots for Violet Town for at least five games and finals, while Kinnear is expected to play a few more games than his former Magpie team-mate.
Fellow new recruit and Shepparton East premiership player Rob Osborne will make his home debut for his new club against the Redlegs this Sunday.

Keath plays key role

FORMER Kialla cricketer Alex Keath played a pivotal role in steering his Premier League club Melbourne to this year’s two-day title.
Keath, 21, had a mixed match for the Dees, making 0 in the team’s first innings before starring in the second innings with an unbeaten 50 as the team chased down 174 to win outright.
He also took six wickets for the match, including 4-44 in the second innings.
Keath will spend the Australian winter in England playing cricket before he returns home in time for the start of the new domestic season.

Wines wins rising star nomination

ECHUCA Football Club product Ollie Wines has made an impressive start to his AFL career with Port Power.
The 18-year-old collected 24 possessions in his debut match against Melbourne in Round 1 and collected the first Rising Star nomination of the season.
He backed up his round one effort with another solid game against Greater Western Sydney in round two.

Johansson steps down from coach role

MARK Johansson has stepped down from the head coach role of the Numurkah Knights Soccer Club on the eve of the season.
A difference of opinion between Johansson and the club’s management of player management is what led the former whistle blower become coach to resign from the role.
He will pick up the whistle again this season and also assist Shepparton South this season.
The new Goulburn North East Football Association season starts this Sunday.
