SPORTING clubs across the region can now apply for a share of $2 million in State Government funding to weatherproof facilities.
Following the announcement last month Nationals Member for Murray Valley, Tim McCurdy encouraged applications for the provision via local Councils with up to $100,000 available for each project.
“In recent years Victorian metropolitan, regional and country clubs have been doing it tough, with facilities battling to cope with climate extremes, ranging from droughts to floods,” Mr McCurdy said.
“This program provides the cash boost needed for clubs to develop long-term, sustainable, low-water use community facilities that are better equipped to deal with future climate challenges.
“The Sustainable Sports Grounds Program is designed to help local sport to not only survive, but to thrive.”
Applications close August 10.
