THE benefits of outdoor exercise cannot be understated. The body calls for sun and fresh air and the freedom of moving about in open spaces vastly improves mood and self-esteem. Connecting with Mother Nature increases spiritual awareness and elevates the soul.

In preparation for summer, the Shepparton Rotary Club-donated and council-installed outdoor gymnasium near Aquamoves is being utilised by Activities in the Park.

Greater Shepparton City Council has organised more than 200 activities, with many still running through to April, as part of the Activities in the Park program.

Locals are encouraged to come down to the outdoor fitness equipment circuit and receive expert training near the all abilities playground at Western Park, off Tom Collins Drive.

The entire Western Park space is a dedicated training area, with multiple different activities available and something for everyone, regardless of ability and capability.

Aquamoves Shepparton workgroup officer of health and wellbeing, Carien Hesselberg said, “Come down and enjoy this picturesque outdoor space by the park and learn how to use the equipment with a qualified instructor.

“The circuit utilises bodyweight based training and once you’ve learned how to use the equipment you can keep returning whenever you feel like it.”

To get involved with Activities in the Park, you can download the extremely handy ‘Get Mooving’ app for your phone. The app contains details on all the activities and is linked to Google maps so you can locate where the activities are being held. Otherwise, visit the website at www.getmoovingshepparton.com.au, like ‘Get Mooving Greater Shepparton’ on Facebook, or give them a call on 5832 9431.
