Support group to ease pain

sadviser March 11, 2014

WITH more than 6,000 people in the Goulburn Valley suffering from chronic pain in silence, a new Chronic Pain Support Group has been initiated to assist those in need, with their very first group meeting to be held on March 19.
Affiliated with the Australian Pain Management Association, the support group will run from 1pm to 2:30pm at the North Shepparton Community Hub in Parkside Drive, Shepparton and as of then will meet on the third Wednesday of every month to provide people with a chance to interact with others in like situations as well as offer participation in social outings such as nature walks and sailing.
Chronic Pain Support Group Facilitator, Morry McKellar said, “This meeting is open to all chronic pain sufferers and their families and we encourage the community to come along and see if we may be able to help.
“In our region alone we have between 6,000 and 8,000 people who are suffering from chronic pain alone and are not seeking any medical help. What we are offering is an open group atmosphere for them to discuss their experience with others in like situations,” Morry said.
