Take the ‘tour’ this weekend

David Lee April 29, 2015

THE local community is gearing up for the Powercor Tour de Depot in Shepparton this Sunday, which will see local radio icon, Tommy Jackett join riders at the starting line in support of The Community Fund Goulburn Valley.
The inaugural event starts at Victoria Park Lake from 12 noon, where people of all ages and abilities are invited to get on their bikes or cheer on their friends and fellow riders while enjoying family fun festivities at the finish line.
Cyclists can select from a leisurely 10km ride around Victoria Park Lake, or a timed event of 20km for more experienced riders, which includes a $500 cash prize.
Tommy says he is looking forward to taking part in the community initiative that will help raise funds for such an important cause.
“The Community Fund Goulburn Valley reaches out to the wider community, offering support to friends and families in need.
“I’m honoured and proud to be riding in the Powercor Tour de Depot and encourage everyone to get involved and help create a better future for our region.
Powercor Regional Business Manager, Ian Gillingham said, “The community will be invited to enjoy the festivities at the finish line, with fair rides, face painting, market stalls and a sausage sizzle.
“With 100 percent of entry fees going directly to The Community Fund, it’s a great way to give back to our community.”
Entry fees are $10 for children and students, $20 for adults and $50 for a family of four. For those participating in the timed event, their families will also gain free entry into the community participation ride.
