THE Dancers Company, The Australian Ballet’s regional touring arm, visited the region during July, presenting two special performances of Don Quixote, with the support of sponsor, Telstra.
The company’s 31 talented young performers performed to packed crowds at the Westside Performing Arts Centre in Mooroopna. During the day members of the group made a special visit with children from the Goulburn Valley Academy of Ballet in Shepparton.
Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for Northern Victoria, Robert Bell said The Dancers Company was a way of bringing a unique ballet experience to those outside of the major metropolitan cities.
“We are very excited to be sharing this art form with regional audiences who may never have seen professional classical dance before. This production of Don Quixote is the perfect introduction to the world of ballet,” he said.
The Dancers Company comprises special guest artists from The Australian Ballet and the stars of tomorrow from The Australian Ballet School.
The visit comes as a part of a small group of only 23 shows to be performed to audiences in Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory.
