Wyndham Street widening works begin

WORKS to widen Wyndham Street along the Victoria Park Lake frontage will begin this week.

According to the Greater Shepparton City Council, the improvements are intended to increase the safety of one of the municipality’s busiest attractions, and are being completed as part of the contract to install traffic lights at the Wyndham Street/Railway Line/McIntosh Street/Hassett Street and Fitzjohn Street intersection.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s director infrastructure, Phil Hoare, said, “The works will address the narrow parking lane on Wyndham Street adjacent to the Victoria Park Lake, improving safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.”

It is anticipated the works will be completed by November, however according to Mr Hoare there will be significant disruptions to traffic flow during the road works.

“We look forward to the cooperation of the community to ensure that the works are undertaken safely and a quickly as possible,” Mr Hoare said.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane North-bound and motorists can expect some delays associated with the works. Council asks anyone passing through this area to take extra care, allow additional time and be aware of changes to parking and traffic detours while the works are taking place.
