JUNIOR tennis players of Shepparton had the chance to have a hit of tennis with a legend on Monday, when Australian tennis champion, John ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, dropped by the Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club.
The visit was part of the Australian Open Trophy Tour which is touring the state in the lead-up to the Australian Open.
Members of the Lawn Tennis Club, and Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe, were on hand to meet Fitzy and get a look up close at some of the renowned silverware of the sport.
In typical Australian Open form, the weather was unbearable at at least 40 degrees, but that didn’t wipe the smiles of the tennis enthusiasts who had gathered for the occasion.
