Having a well-trained workforce is going to be key to help deliver the country out of where we currently find ourselves. Speaking on behalf of the Victorian Government. Member for Northern Victoria, Mark Gepp, announced the local finalists of the 67th Victorian Training Awards.
This award recognises the achievements of apprentices, students, teachers, trainers and employers across the state.
Three local residents will be representing the GV: Stephen Cranage, Koorie Student of the Year; Michelle McNab, Teacher/Trainer of the Year; and CPE Constructions, Medium Employer of the Year finalist.
This year’s awards received the highest number of nominations in over a decade, with individual award categories proving most popular among nominees.
Mark Gepp MP attributes the high volume of nominations to how ‘successful the Victorian TAFE and training sector is.’
The Minister for Training and Skills, Gayle Tierney, asserts that, “This year’s event also showcases the achievements, resilience and innovation of the sector amid the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.”
To illustrate, CPE Constructions have relished stay-at-home orders, using the opportunity to train staff, with 20 percent of their staff currently enrolled at GOTAFE.
Best luck to all finalists. Winners of the Victorian Training Awards will be announced at a gala event on Saturday, 16 October 2021. Find out more at education.vic.gov.au/vta.
