Speed limit changes for Poplar Avenue and Orrvale Road

THE notorious Poplar Avenue and Orrvale Road intersection, that has been the site of many incidents, including fatal crashes, has had a speed limit reduction to improve safety for road users. The speed limit will be reduced to 80km/h.

There was a two-car collision as recently as September in which two people required hospitalisation.

Greater Shepparton City Council acting director infrastructure, Tim Zak, said the speed limit reduction was necessary to improve safety in the area.

“This is a dangerous intersection with a history of very serious collisions. It is essential that we make the necessary changes to improve safety for all road users,” Mr Zak said.

Council advises motorists to be aware of the reduced speed limits when travelling in the area. New signage will be installed over the coming weeks.
