SHEPPARTON businesswoman and Greater Shepparton Foundation chief executive officer, Cheryl Hammer, will run as the Liberal candidate for Shepparton in the Victorian State Election this November.
Cheryl’s role as CEO of a lead philanthropic organisation gives her insight into challenges and opportunities that are presented to people living in the region. Small business recovery after Covid, choice in education, and better access to mental health services are her top priorities.
Ms Hammer was the Liberal candidate for Shepparton in the 2018 State Election, when Independent Member Suzanna Sheed was reelected with 55.3 percent of the vote. A strong contender, Ms Hammer finished with 44.70 percent of the two-party preference vote.
With 22 years’ experience in the tourism industry and serving on community boards and committees that tackle issues like food insecurity and homelessness, Ms Hammer will focus on tackling these issues as the next Member for Shepparton.
She says major infrastructure projects in need of funding such as the Shepparton Bypass, Stage 2 of GV Health and the Shepparton Sports Centre will be important platforms in the upcoming state election.
