INSIDE this week’s edition of The Adviser, you will find a 12-page gloss magazine brought to you by the Greater Shepparton City Council.
The magazine is an opportunity for children and young people to have their voices heard about issues that may affect their health and wellbeing.
Shepparton mayor, Cr Shane Sali stressed the importance of hearing from local youth regarding the issues that within their community neighbourhoods, may be impacting their ability to live happy, healthy, and connected lives.
“Looking after the health of people in our community is one of the most important jobs that local councils do. We are going to be designing places and spaces that children and young people use including local streets, parks, playgrounds, sportsgrounds, libraries, and shopping areas. So, their input and ideas are crucial,” said the mayor.
“Our future belongs to our young people, and we need their help to build healthier places for them, their families and everyone else. The magazine contains a variety of resources that can be used in a fun way to have a say and build healthier futures together. You can even get creative, and write me a letter,” he added.
The Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to be partnering with The Faculty of Education at Monash University and VicHealth to deliver the Kids Co-Designing Healthy Places program. The program aims to support councils to co-design healthy places with children and young people.
