Whether you’re heading to your favourite peaceful fishing spot, camping with the family or off–roading with your mates, preparing for a 4WD road trip should always begin with a quick once–over to ensure your vehicle is tip–top, including checking that all recovery gear is in good working condition.
Below is a simple inspection checklist to help you out:
- Check engine fluids & top up
- Inspect fan belts and hoses for wear and tear
- Check auxiliary battery still holds charge
- Check tyres air pressure and tread at a local service outlet and don’t forget a spare
- Check brakes, ensuring they’re clean & in good working condition
- Check brake lights are working
- Inspect suspension
- Inspect bullbar, mirrors, recovery gear and other accessories to make sure they’re fully attached and in working order
- Check and respool your winch
- Check lights are in good condition and are installed and wired properly
