Providing a deeper sense of care

THE Goulburn Valley Quilters have been designing and making quilts for GV Health dialysis patients for 18 years.

Each handmade quilt offers warmth, colour and comfort to patients and their families during what can often be a time of uncertainty, discomfort and distress. Dialysis treatment may be required up to three times a week and can leave patients feeling cold and exhausted.

A DEEPER SENSE OF CARE…Goulburn Valley Quilters design and handmake quilts for GV dialysis patients, bringing warmth, colour and comfort during what can be a challenging and uncertain time. GV Quilter’s coordinator, Gael Thompson, said the quilts provide a deeper sense of care in what can otherwise feel like a very clinical environment.

“It’s about being able to provide comfort to patients whilst they’re receiving their treatment.”

The Goulburn Valley Quilters donate approximately 60 quilts each year. Dialysis patients choose their quilt at the beginning of their dialysis journey and the quilt remains theirs throughout their treatment and beyond.

“Part of our group’s charter is that we have a community focus.

We love to help people in our community and giving our quilts to patients in dialysis is very worthwhile.”

GV Health would like to thank the incredible volunteers who give their time, care and energy to support our patients, staff and community.

Your compassion and commitment make GV Health a more connected, caring place.
