THE Goulburn River has captivated the imagination of people for generations, including authors Peter Whitelaw and John Thompson who will launch their book, River of Secrets, at the Shepparton Library on Thursday, June 4, at 2.30pm.
The Goulburn River is the centre of this thriller that begins with a wave of inexplicable illness in Shepparton and leads to an investigation along the river from high in the mountains to the Murray River, involving obstructive government officials, frightened soldiers and highly dangerous and explosive tensions.
The authors, Peter Whitelaw and John Thompson, have both had a close connection to the Goulburn River. They set out to put this important and beautiful river, along with the towns that line it, at the centre of an exciting exploration of some key issues facing us today.
