NAIDOC Week is a time to honour the history, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year holds particular significance as we celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC, five decades of recognising, elevating and championing the voices, cultures and resilience of First Nations peoples across Australia.
The 2026 theme is a tribute to the people who built this movement. It recognises the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.

“NAIDOC Week has grown over the past 50 years into a powerful national movement and celebration, reflecting the enduring strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,” Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative CEO Felicia Dean said.
“As we celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC, we honour those who fought for recognition, rights and self-determination, while also recognising the responsibility we have to nurture and empower the next generation.
“We proudly acknowledge this remarkable legacy and look to the future with confidence, pride and hope. The strength of our young people, guided by the wisdom of our Elders and the vision of our communities, will ensure that the next 50 years continue to build on the foundations laid before us.
“NAIDOC has always been, and continues to be, a movement grounded in community-led vision, truth-telling and cultural integrity. It reminds us that our stories, languages and traditions are not only enduring but continue to shape the future of this nation.”
At Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative, this spirit is reflected every day through our commitment to providing holistic, culturally safe care and support for community across all stages of life. Through a whole-of-life approach, Rumbalara delivers services that nurture physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural wellbeing while honouring the knowledge, traditions and strength passed down through generations.
During NAIDOC Week (Sunday 5th July 2026 – Sunday 12th July 2026), Rumbalara will host a range of events and activities designed to celebrate culture, strengthen connection and bring community together.
