Greater Shepparton City Council celebrated National Tree Day and its 10-year involvement in One Tree Per Child with a community planting day that began at Tassiker Reserve on Sunday, July 26.
1,500 native plants were planted on the day as part of the One Tree Per Child initiative, which has played a key role in improving local biodiversity and engaging young people in environmental action. Over the past decade, more than 200,000 indigenous trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcovers have been planted across the region through the program.
