GREATER Shepparton City Council is pleased to unveil the new digital Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame (GSSHOF) display, now located at the Shepparton Sports Stadium.
The interactive display replaces the former wall of inductees at Riverlinks, helping preserve the history of the Sports Hall of Fame while making it easier for residents and visitors to learn about local sporting achievements.
Part of the group who initiated the GSSHOF, Margo Koskelainen OAM was rapt with the digital display.
“The work that the council has done putting it together is excellent, and it’s very interesting to read. We have a wealth of sports people in this city, and I’m actually very pleased to know that I’m part of it,” said Margo.
“I think it’s wonderful. I would like to think that we can develop it. I think there are other avenues as well within the sports complex up here, and I’m pleased that it’s somewhere where it can be cared for.”
Mayor, Cr Shane Sali, joined members of the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame Advisory Committee to officially unveil the display on Wednesday, July 29.
“The new Hall of Fame display will provide greater visibility and accessibility for residents and visitors to learn about the inspiring stories of local sportspeople who have gone on to represent our region, state and nation across a wide range of sports,” Cr Sali said.
The Sports Hall of Fame display features a 43-inch interactive touchscreen, allowing users to browse inductee profiles, learn about their achievements and view footage from previous induction ceremonies.
