WORKS are progressing on the new Princess Park WB Hunter Pavilion, with the impressive structure overlooking the sporting precinct starting to take shape.
A significant construction milestone has been reached, with the completion of the floor slab, verandah slab, and structural steel installation, giving a sense of the scale and presence of the new facility.
The new WB Hunter Pavilion includes change rooms, trainers’ rooms, umpires’ facilities, and amenities that meet AFL, Netball and Cricket Victoria requirements, a large social room with commercial kitchen and glass frontage views over the oval, a three-metre wide undercover verandah area, along with tiered seating and a grassy mound offering elevated views for spectators.
The new pavilion is built above flood level, ensuring long-term resilience for decades to come after the original WB Hunter Pavilion, built in 1965, was inundated by floodwater in 2022 and deemed unfit for use.
Roof installation and internal framing are the next phase of development, with the completed project expected to play an integral role in community sport at Princess Park for generations to come.
The $4.5M project is jointly funded by Greater Shepparton City Council, Shepparton Swans Football Netball Club, and the Shepparton Youth Club United Cricket Club. The project is expected to be completed in early 2027.
