EVEN with all the technology we have at our disposal, in my opinion, you can’t beat a traditional, physical list. At home, when we finish an item and need to add it to the shopping list or to leave reminders, they inevitably end up on a phone but are all-too-often forgotten.

This DIY note-taking station is a simple way to create a central notice board for your household, to leave notes to loved ones, display reminders or keep on top of the groceries.

All you need is an A4 photo frame, A4 notepad, paper or exercise book, and a whiteboard marker.

For my framed list, I used a lined page from a notepad as the backing in a $6 op-shop frame — making that the total cost of my project. You might already have a frame at home that would work perfectly.

A whiteboard marker is easy to write with and clear on the glass, while the paper backing provides contrast. You can decorate the frame, experiment with different sizes, orientations and backings, and choose whether to hang it or display it standing, depending on what suits your home and needs.
