FOR Greater Shepparton Secondary College’s (GSSC) Class of 2026, the final chapter of secondary school is drawing to a close – marking the end of a year shaped by friendship, diversity, school spirit and shared experiences.

As graduation approaches, GSSC’s 2026 College Captains reflected on the memories they will take with them, what has made their cohort special and the advice they would leave for students following in their footsteps.

For Zoey Prior, it is the sense of belonging at GSSC that she will remember most.

“The thing I will remember most from my time at GSSC is how welcoming and inclusive the teachers and students were,” Zoey said. “There was always someone to help me when I needed it.”

That sense of belonging is also something Hadia Mirza will carry with her beyond GSSC.

“I will always keep all the amazing friendships I made close to my heart, and the diversity this school opened my eyes to,” Hadia said.

For Ella Wanjohi, the spirit shown by the Class of 2026 has been a highlight.

“From dressing up on theme every day of Spirit Week to wearing our costumes at the athletics and swimming carnivals, we all showed up for each other and put in the effort to really make school events successful,” Ella said.

The captains also encouraged younger students to embrace opportunities and make the most of their time at GSSC.

“Give everything a go, no matter what,” Zoey said, while Hadia encouraged students to “talk to each other and cherish your friendships”, with Ella adding that “the school is an amazing way to explore your interests and discover your talents”.

As the Class of 2026 looks ahead to life beyond secondary school, Ella shared a final message with her graduating cohort.

“It’s been a long couple of years, but we finally made it. Take a well-earned break and be proud of everything you’ve achieved.”

As the Class of 2026 prepares to farewell GSSC, students leave behind a chapter filled with memories, friendships and achievements, ready to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
