CELEBRATING the hard work, talent, resilience and innovation of Greater Shepparton’s business community, the 29th Greater Shepparton Business Excellence Awards, hosted by the Greater Shepparton Business Network (GSBN) and proudly presented by Shepparton Club Inc, were held at Riverlinks Eastbank on Friday night.
Business leaders, entrepreneurs and community members walked the red carpet before gathering for the gala event, where GSBN presented 16 award categories, including the evening’s highest honour, the Hall of Fame Award.
Joining the distinguished ranks of the GSBN Hall of Fame this year was Talisman Menswear, founded and owned by charismatic businessman Paul Jerome. For almost two decades, the Mooroopna business has been helping generations of local men look their best while building lasting relationships throughout the Goulburn Valley. In recognition of that contribution, Talisman earned its place among Greater Shepparton’s most respected and enduring businesses.
Like so many local businesses, Talisman Menswear has weathered its fair share of challenges, requiring fortitude and resilience in the face of COVID-19 and, later, the 2022 Mooroopna floods. During these difficult times, Paul not only adapted, harnessing his skills to make masks for residents and businesses, but also showed the determination to keep going, remaining true to the store he had worked so hard to build.
At the heart of Talisman Menswear’s enduring success, however, are the generations of customers Paul has helped look their very best for some of life’s most important celebrations and milestones. From weddings and anniversaries to graduations, formals and special presentations, Paul’s skill, dedication and personalised service have helped countless people across the region mark memorable occasions with confidence and pride.
Humbled by the recognition, Mr Jerome said,
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart, it’s very difficult to put into words exactly how I feel. But, of all the awards, to receive this one…wow.”
The Hall of Fame induction recognises not only the longevity of the business, but also the relationships, community spirit and unwavering local support that have made Talisman Menswear a valued part of Mooroopna and the wider Goulburn Valley for almost 20 years.
