ESTABLISHED in 1860 and shaped by five generations of the Purbrick family, Tahbilk is Victoria’s oldest family-owned winery, and one of the region’s most beloved destinations for a day out.
In 2025, the estate marked 100 years of Purbrick family ownership, with fourth-generation winemaker Alister Purbrick also recognised with an Order of Australia medal for his lifelong contribution to the industry.
Now part of the GMCU $25,000 Giveaway, eligible purchases at Tahbilk give customers the chance to win a share of the prize pool while supporting a celebrated local business.

A visit offers plenty to enjoy: tastings at the Cellar Door, the historic 1860 and 1875 underground cellars still in use today, lunch at the Estate Restaurant overlooking the wetlands, and wine on the deck above the Goulburn River. Guests can also explore the eco-trails, picnic in the orchard, or browse the Nagambie Farmers Market on the fourth Sunday of each month (10am-2pm). Bespoke events run year-round, to learn more, go to tahbilk.com.au/events.
The winery is internationally renowned for its award-winning Marsanne, grown from Australia’s oldest plantings dating to 1927.
The Tahbilk family is also farewelling beloved matriarch Bonnie Purbrick, who passed away peacefully on June 13, aged 97. A funeral service will be held at Nagambie Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 24 at 11am, followed by a wake at the Tahbilk Estate Restaurant at 1pm. For those unable to attend, a livestream is available at vividstream.com.au/live/bonnie-purbrick.
