RECORD entries where recently seen in Elmore for the Appaloosa and Australian Spotted Ponys Association show, where the association was also celebrating 50 years since it was formed. The combined state and national show saw two judges with their work cut out for them, with many people participating.

John Davis, association president mentioned that when he started with the association, seven years ago, they were struggling for members and had not held an event in some time. Seeing the combined clubs come together for such an incredible event and celebration this year overjoyed him.

“It was a big day, but I think everyone really enjoyed it. There were lots of well bred horses and ponies, we shared a lovely meal to finish the day off, and some of us even camped for the weekend which was a lot of fun. The event would not have happened without the help from my partner, Joan who is the association secretary, which is such a huge job both before and after the event, and my daughter Karen, for handling and preparing all the ponies as well as being secretary,” said John.

John’s vision is to one day hold a ‘really big’ show, where the Appaloosa and Australian Spotted Ponys Association could also join with the Australian Palouse Pony Association and the Australian Appaloosa Association.

“It would be great to see everyone come together for an event like that, I hope I am still around to one day see it,” said John.
