THE Shepparton Tri Club hosted the Victorian Aquathlon Championships, presented by Cavalier Homes, at the Victoria Lake on January 3.

The event saw a number of local and visiting athletes compete in numerous race events throughout the morning and is sanctioned by Triathlon Victoria, with the Sprint Distance race selected for championship points.

The course enabled athletes to swim in the picturesque Victoria Lake amongst the backdrop of Aquamoves and the new SAM, with the unique opportunity of a run through the scenic bushland whilst remaining on a sealed path. For the first time, there was a multi-class category for athletes on the autism spectrum.

The day was a great success, with Shepparton Triathlon Club president, Liam Moller, telling us how the day went.

“We have been humbled by the number of positive responses from participants, supporters and Triathlon Victoria. This reflects the incredible effort of our committee, race organisers and volunteers who contributed towards making this event successful,” said Mr Moller.

“Our volunteers created a special race day environment which has many local and visiting athletes already committing to the event next year!”

Shepparton Tri Club extend a warm welcome to the wider community who may want to learn more about multi-sport and triathlon, for further information, please visit www.sheppartontriclub.com.
