THE first round of Cricket Shepparton’s T20 competition kicked off on Saturday, with Kyabram leading the tally so far after a massive nine-wicket victory over Karramomous.
The four-round fixture is scheduled to wrap up on Saturday, January 23 with finals to follow.
Playing at Vibert Reserve, Karramomous batted first and finished with a respectable 5/113 with Stuart Turner top-scoring with 36.
In reply however, Kyabram’s Paul Newman smashed 66 from 36 balls, including six boundaries and five sixes, helping his side along to 1/117 in just the thirteenth over.
Cricket Shepparton league president, David D’Elia, said the weekend’s round of matches were a success, with good crowds turning out to watch the fast action.
“By all reports everyone enjoyed the day. The fixture was set that way to get people back into cricket and it looks like it’s done just that,” he said.
Round eight of the regular Cricket Shepparton season resumes on Saturday, January 30.
