EASTER cheer and celebrations were in full swing at Tatura Children’s Centre last Wednesday afternoon with kinder children showcasing their creative flair in an Easter bonnet parade.

Hot glue guns across Shepparton and surrounds would be in low supply, with hats adorned with eggs, bunnies and little faux chickens galore.

Easter bonnet parades lend their origins to the tradition of having new clothes after fasting during Lent. Wearing one’s ‘Sunday best’ was especially crucial to celebrate the resurrection of Christ, and what better way than with spectacular headwear.

Now a rite of passage for primary school aged children, Easter bonnet parades provide an opportunity for children to think creatively and work with their parents (or watch as their parents prise a superglued fluffy chicken from their palm) to bring their creative vision to fruition.
