IF you have been doing your Christmas shopping in the Maude Street Mall, you will have noticed that stage 1 of the redevelopment is well underway. Stage 1 includes demolition, excavation, in-ground service works, concreting and landscaping.

Contractors Jarvis Delahey and Greater Shepparton City Council are working together to reduce the impact on surrounding businesses.

Anyone wanting to visit the Mall are encouraged to do so, to support local businesses and to support retailers they would normally visit. Construction workers will break before Christmas to minimise disruption during this momentous time for retail.

Acting director infrastructure, Tim Zak said that the timing of the redevelopment stages were carefully planned to ensure the most disruptive works were completed outside the busy Christmas shopping period.

The redevelopment will be completed in four stages, with the entire project anticipated to be complete by late 2022, finishing 2021 with the first stage complete and a playground expected to be installed early next year.

Mr Zak said, “Solid plywood hoardings have been erected around the work site to ensure the safety of the public, reduce noise and dust.”

Shoppers can look forward to complimentary timed parking and the MAD Shopping campaign, with winners drawn each Monday for shopping locally and sharing their purchase.
