THREE Victorian Ministers have resigned ahead of November’s election, with Premier Jacinta Allan expected to announce a cabinet reshuffle.
With just seven months until the state poll, Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas, Finance Minister Danny Pearson and Skills and TAFE Minister Gayle Tierney confirmed on Monday that they would step down from their ministerial roles.
All three will move to the backbench but remain in parliament until the election.
The departures follow Government Services Minister Natalie Hutchins’s resignation in December, leaving four vacancies on the government’s frontbench.
In a statement, Ms Allan praised the ministers for the “indelible mark” they had made on Victoria.
“I am grateful for all they’ve done and everything they’ve achieved and for that I say thank you to each of them,” said Ms Allan.
She said that the Labor Party would meet for a caucus meeting on Tuesday, April 14, to make new appointments for the cabinet.
“Portfolio arrangements will be confirmed very soon and the new Ministry will be sworn in in due course.”
