SHEPPARTON is gearing up for an exciting eco-friendly initiative, thanks to local waste management company, FOOTT, and the support of The Nationals Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe. The Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) is set to roll out on November 1, offering a 10c reimbursement for eligible cans, containers, and bottles returned.

Ms O’Keeffe expressed her delight at the commencement of the scheme, praising the efforts of FOOTT in driving this initiative. “It was exciting to see the facility operating and the process in action, which collects and sorts containers efficiently,” she said. The scheme will not only incentivise recycling but also benefit charities, schools and community organisations by offering a simple fundraising method.
FOOTT will operate CDS Vic Depots in Shepparton, Benalla and Yarrawonga from November 1 and in Cobram from November 27. The depots will guide residents through the process, with automated counting machines ensuring a smooth operation. Charities and community groups can now register as a donation partner, ready to accept donations from supporters once the scheme starts.
