Home Government Cemetery trust

Cemetery trust

Member for Northern Victoria, Wendy Lovell, has urged the Victorian Government to appoint a new chairperson to the Remembrance Parks Central Victoria (RPCV) trust when the current chair’s term expires on February 28, 2025. Lovell cites a series of governance failures under the current leadership, including repeated failures to meet annual reporting and general meeting requirements. The RPCV has not released annual reports for the past two financial years, nor held timely AGMs, hindering public scrutiny. This lack of transparency coincides with several operational scandals, including proposed exorbitant burial cost increases, the removal of grave adornments, and the recent disturbance of graves by maintenance crews. Lovell argues that a new chair is crucial to restore good governance and accountability at the troubled cemetery trust. She also questions the Minister for Health’s lack of explanation to Parliament regarding the trust’s failure to table financial statements, as required by the Financial Management Act 1994.
