Empowering clients to make informed, judgment-free decisions about their pets’ health, GV Vets remains deeply committed to delivering exceptional care and promoting the wellbeing of animals across the region.
Following a major renovation unveiled last year, which introduced spacious exam rooms, an expanded hospital with designated zones for different species, and a state-of-the-art surgery suite, the clinic continues to evolve its care philosophy. These upgrades have enhanced the clinic’s capacity to deliver tailored, empathetic care while also enabling access to visiting specialists in surgery, orthopaedics, and internal medicine. This collaborative approach ensures that advanced veterinary services are available locally, reducing the need for clients to travel to Melbourne. This key feature of the clinic not only provided better outcomes for pets but also valuable professional development for the GV Vets team.
Nevertheless, with pets present in nearly 70 per cent of Australian households, demand for veterinary services is rising. Unlike human healthcare, which is significantly subsidised, veterinary care is fully funded by pet owners, placing increasing financial pressure on families seeking medical attention for their animals.

In response, GV Vets is championing a more compassionate, sustainable veterinary model. In partnership with the Australian Veterinary Association, the clinic is advocating for broader sector support while adopting a new, highly personalised approach to care—contextualised care.
Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, contextualised care tailors treatment and wellness plans to the unique circumstances of each pet and their owner. It considers the pet’s individual health needs, lifestyle, and environment, alongside the owner’s preferences, capabilities and resources. By fostering open communication and shared decision-making, GV Vets ensures care is both medically sound and realistically aligned with each family’s situation.
As GV Vets founder and senior veterinarian, Dr Brett Davis said, “Every pet and every family is unique. Our goal is to create a treatment plan that fits both the pet’s needs and the family’s reality.”
