For the past 38 years, the Shepparton Seniors Festival has been celebrating the contributions older people have made with the community of Greater Shepparton.
Greater Shepparton City Council have provided support to the festival over the years and at the most recent February ordinary council meeting, agreed to continue providing support with a grant totalling $5000 with each application limited to $500.
In 2019, the Seniors Festival was held throughout the month of October, with 1900 people attending 32 events in the region.
People aged 60+ total as much as 23.4 percent of Greater Shepparton population, according to 2016 census data.
Council’s support for the festival also includes running council funded events and co-ordination of the program.
