GREATER Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback on kerbside waste and glass collection. It is important to have your say when it could potentially change the frequency of when the current bins are collected.
As part of the State Government’s Recycling Victoria policy, Council is seeking to incorporate an alternative measure to remove glass from the current recycling bin and make changes to the frequency of kerbside bin collections to reduce waste going into landfill.
“Changes to glass recycling are being introduced across the state and we want to know people’s thoughts on these changes. Currently, it is difficult to separate glass from other recyclable materials, and glass items often break in mixed recycling bins. Making changes will help improve recycling and the amount of waste going to landfill,” said Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe.
She also mentioned that it was important to understand the community’s preferred option of disposing of glass and is encouraging residents to provide their feedback to assist Greater Shepparton in the future.
