AS the end of year approaches, the demand for fruit pickers becomes even more critical with cherries already being harvested and stone fruits soon to come on board.

Greater Shepparton City Council and Fruit Growers Victoria have been working together on a new campaign to attract seasonal workers.

The Shepparton region is one of the largest fruit producing regions in Australia and along with all the support industries, dominates our local economy making the need even more critical.

The Victorian and Federal Governments are both providing support and incentives for the growers to upgrade facilities and for pickers to make the move to the area.

While the industry has collected a fair share of bad press, these instances are being addressed and it offers plenty of opportunities for those looking for jobs in agriculture.

There are thousands of short-term jobs up for grabs, including fruit picking and packing, and general farm work. Register here: https://greatershepparton.com.au/business/pick-shepp
