Dry spell broken

LOCALS have been relieved of consistently dry weather this autumn, with approximately 6.2mm recorded on Sunday, May 17 and 12.8mm recorded by 9am on Monday, May 18, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. This brings total rainfall over the two days to 19mm.

Last year, May was notoriously parched, with the month proving to be Victoria’s driest since 2005.

While the weekend downpour has greened up local paddocks, autumn has been largely dry across the region. Total rainfall for April reached just 18mm, meaning Monday morning’s 12.8mm was nearly equivalent to the entirety of last month’s rainfall.
