LOCAL trade, rural and hardware store, WB Hunters Mitre 10, has arranged a donation bin where residents can donate consumables to help those who have been affected by the floods.
More than 1,300 animals have lost their lives during the extreme weather. Livestock have fared worse than household pets, with many farmers losing their land, livelihood, and their stock overnight.
Many cattle have drowned in the floods, while others have starved because the dirty water has contaminated their pastures. With more rain expected, residents in flood affected areas are crying out for assistance.
“Every little bit counts and helps people in need who have gone through the toughest thing,” said rural division manager, John Billman.
After collecting enough goods and foodstuffs, Hunters will freight the donations at their own cost to flood affected areas.
Check at the register for donation points, or better yet, pick up something extra in your order to donate when you drop in to buy feed, seed, chemicals or more for your own animals.
Donations can be made at WB Hunters Mitre 10 HQ at 20-28 Florance Street, Shepparton, or any of their other seven stores in Tatura, Echuca, Euroa, Corowa, Katandra West, Yarrawonga, and in Wangaratta. Phone 5833 3999 for more information.
