THE first stage of the Maude Street Mall redevelopment is on track to be unveiled to the public this month. Once Stage 1 works near the Fraser Street entrance are completed, hoardings will be removed allowing access to the area and revealing a new playground.
Family-friendly celebrations are scheduled to follow the official opening of Stage 1, offering families a chance to try out the new playground area and improving access to businesses in the mall, who are still trading as usual throughout the works.
Stages 2 and 3 in the northern and southern sections of the mall are also progressing, with demolition complete and gas, water, and power installation and connection in progress. These stages include the new road surface, on-street parking, shelters with solar panels, street furniture, lighting, and tree cells to plant new trees to replace those removed to make room for the roadway.
