ZOOM-call fatigue has created a push for a return to simpler times and a more nostalgic way of communication: snail mail.
Australia Post and Beyond Blue are teaming up to provide over four million free, pre-paid postcards to mailboxes in regional areas to combat loneliness.

Each postcard will include tips for maintaining mental wellness to keep and a blank space to send a message to a friend free of charge. Just fill it out and drop it in a red post box.

Australia Post head of community, Nickey Tracey, said the simple idea would have a positive impact on people’s mental health, particularly for those who are currently unable to visit friends and family.

Many of us in the Goulburn Valley have felt the effects of isolation and with lockdown extended, we must brace ourselves for even more time without seeing loved ones.

Mail receptacles that ask for no unsolicited mail might miss out. However, participating Post Offices will have pre-paid postcards for residents to collect.

Australia Post have one of the largest networks in the country and with a written letter, it won’t matter that your internet connection is a little hazy. You can still make a connection and stay in touch with the people you love and miss.
