AT GMCU, we’re big believers in community. We have a strong record of support and sponsorship in our region, from helping to fund local sports clubs that get people mixing and moving, to giving financial support to vibrant community events, or sponsoring education initiatives that build knowledge.
GMCU started in the Goulburn Valley over 60 years ago, so the region is built into our DNA. It’s important to us to have a physical presence in our communities at a time when other financial institutions are closing their doors in country areas. GMCU’s 10 branches in the Goulburn Valley are all about offering a friendly, personalised service to members.
We also look to be accessible to all our members, including providing modern electronic banking solutions so they can bank the way they choose.
While our core business is banking and financial services, our purpose goes well beyond that. We currently support over 150 local organisations, so we can help to preserve the culture and enable positive social changes in this beautiful part of Australia.
Our philosophy is “Unleashing What’s Possible”. For us, this is about making our communities better places to live and work, and improving the lives of our members. Whether it’s youth sporting clubs, or the African House; major educational initiatives like the Greater Shepparton Secondary College Calculators Program and the Shepparton Motor Museum; or a community event like the Fryers Street Food Festival; we take great pride in identifying and championing local groups, events and charities that help to build the health and prosperity of our region.
The local economy is essential for our communities to thrive, particularly in the face of the challenges we’ve faced over the past few years.
