THE sun was shining last Wednesday the Mooroopna Croquet Club welcomed Quarry Hill Croquet Club on their home ground.

Quarry Hill Croquet Club belongs to the Goldfields Croquet Association and has recently branched out to play in the Goulburn Valley, in order to strengthen community sports and ensure greater sporting opportunities for all players.

Lockdown has impacted on sporting leagues but across the board people are coming forward to get involved and finding ways to keep the spirit alive.

Mooroopna associate member for Shepparton, John Young said, “Well croquet is one of the oldest played sports in Australia, so we must be doing something right.”

The Quarry Hill newcomers defeated Mooroopna by two games but all around it was a great day.
