HUGE grants to improve physical activity in schools have been awarded to nine Goulburn Valley schools.

Each school will receive $30,000 to improve physical recreation. This substantial investment will encourage activity through quality physical education and school sport, active classrooms, travel, and recreation opportunities backed by a supportive school environment.

Ardmona Primary School, Strathmerton P.S., Cobram Secondary College and Cobram and District Specialist School, Katunga P.S., Wilmot Road P.S., Undera P.S., Numurkah P.S., and St. George’s Road P.S. are the lucky recipients of the state government’s Active Schools grants.

St George’s Road principal, Adam Burbidge said, “We are very excited to be the lucky recipients of this grant. The funds will enable us to create an exciting, stimulating and fun learning environment that promotes healthy, active learning habits.”

“The outdoor physical learning space will provide increased opportunities for movement, collaboration and play which in turn will help us meet the physical, emotional and learning needs of our wonderful students.”

“The collaborative play, gross and fine motor building activities, sensory equipment and more will ensure early literacy and early physical development needs and milestones are more readily met.”

“We are also excited to involve students in the planning process for our new outdoor learning area and we are looking forward to hearing what creative and fun suggestions they have!”
