FAMILIES feeling the strain of limited places in childcare and kindergarten will be pleased to know that a local facility has received funding to expand, which will increase the number of places available.

St Mel’s Kindergarten have secured a significant $370,000 grant to expand and upgrade their current facilities in South Shepparton.

“We have an excellent program at St Mel’s and now we will be able to offer more funded places for Shepparton families,” said kindergarten director, Miriam Stewart.

Building is expected to commence this year, with the expansion and upgrade completed for the start of the 2023 kindergarten year.

With the imminent expansion of St Mel’s Kindergarten, now is an excellent time to secure a place, especially as this year marks the start of government-funded Three-Year-Old Kindergarten being available across Victoria, meaning tens of thousands more three-year-olds can enjoy another year of Early Childhood Education.
