Check school uniforms
Make sure your child’s school uniform is clean and ready for the start of term. This includes sports uniforms (if required), school shoes and runners, hats, socks and any other essentials. It’s also a good idea to clearly label items that are easily misplaced, such as jumpers, jackets and school bags.
Tick off the stationery and booklist
A new school year brings new textbooks, exercise books and learning materials. Check what can be reused from last year and organise the purchase of any required items early to avoid last-minute stress.

Make some adjustments
As the school term approaches, ease your family back into routine by gradually bringing bedtimes forward, reducing screen time and reintroducing regular schedules to help avoid a sudden adjustment.
Turn some pages
If your child has set texts for English or other subjects, purchase them early and encourage some pre-term reading. This can boost comprehension and confidence before classes begin.
Get a head start
If your child needs extra support in areas such as maths, English, humanities or other subjects, consider organising tutoring or additional assistance ahead of the 2026 school year.
