
DR Julia Cornwell McKean has been appointed as a Board Member of GV Health. Julia’s three-year appointment, by the Victorian Minister for Health, comes after a rigorous interview process, which saw 22 applicants for the position.
“I am delighted to be appointed as a board member at GV Health. My motivation stems from an opportunity to make a difference in our community,” said Julia.
“There is an increasing disparity of access to health services in regional and metro areas, and bridging that gap is vital. Attracting health professionals to rural areas is key, but so are alternative methods in the interim such as extending the use of telehealth for GPs, for example.”
A Doctor of Philosophy, Julia and holds affiliations with several institutes. She is a Wiradjuri woman and is proud to reside on the lands of the Bpganerang people on the Victorian/NSW border at Barooga.

Julia currently works as a consultant and was a senior Commonwealth public servant. Her government roles over the past 12 years included responsibility for telecommunications consumer issues, enforcing spam and telemarketing laws for the Australian government, managing the Australian Internet Security Initiative, and in 2015 joining the Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner to set up and run its cyberbullying complaints scheme. Jukia is the director of her company, T One Enterprises, which provides a range of professional services to government and industry.
