GVL Netball Previews Split Round 16 with Sam Saracino

BENALLA V ECHUCA

Echuca will be looking to rebound from its narrow loss to finals bound and ladder leader Euroa.

The Murray Bombers’ were missing some key players and they will be hoping to regain them ready to launch an assault come September.

Benalla was competitive against Rochester and they will look to Mikaylah Lessing, Natalie Pritchard and Ella Sheehan to lead the way.

Lauren Jones, Ash Mangan and coach Belinda Lees will be important to help the Murray Bombers bounce back and bank another four points to lock in a finals spot.

Tip: Echuca.

SHEPPARTON V MANSFIELD

Shepparton will look to take another step towards qualifying for the September action when it welcomes the winless Mansfield.

The Bears were challenged at different stages of its win over arch rival Shepparton United.

Shooters Caitlin Hill and Ella Sidebottom were important in the win over the Demons.

They took their opportunities while youngsters Eliza Bicknell and Caitlyn Tuohey benefitted for more court time in the absence of some key players.

They both contributed to the win and coach Tracey Brereton is likely to give the duo more game time against the Eagles.

Meg Mahoney, Alicia Foster and Nelle Cousins will be looking to try and lead the Eagles to their first win of the season, but in the end, it will be the depth of the Bears that will prove the difference in the end.

EUROA V ROCHESTER

Rochester will be out to continue its good form when it takes on the ladder leading Euroa.

The Tigers have been one of the form teams of the competition, having won four of their past five matches, including the scalps of Shepparton and Tatura.

Linda Rasmussen and Bridgette Holt were outstanding in the win over Benalla to keep alive their finals aspirations. They currently sit four points outside the top six in seventh place.

Shooters Teal Hocking (41) and Morgan Dingwall were important in the win over the visiting Saints and they will need to be accurate to give the Tigers the best chance of upsetting the Magpies.

The Magpies had a fantastic win over Echuca which took it back to the top of the ladder.

The win over the Murray Bombers will give the Magpies plenty of confidence and it also showed that they can win in a low-scoring scenario.

Kellie Davison, Tylah Marchbank and Sophie Owen were important in the win and if they can feed the shooters, then the Magpies will fell it can get the job done over the Tigers.
