WITH laughter, excitement and raw emotion on display, the All-Abilities Cricket, Harmony Cup was back for its seventh iteration on Wednesday, March 22 at Deakin Reserve.

With the day’s fixture split between competing specialist schools and disability service providers, teams played three rounds each amongst a sporting atmosphere of good-natured fun and joviality.

With teams travelling from as far afield as Cobram, Bendigo, Echuca and Numurkah , the competition was away from its usual home at Princess Park due to the lingering impact of last year’s flooding.

Winning the coveted cup on the day was Cobram and District Specialist School for the school’s division and Shepparton Access for the disability service providers’ division.

With a host of generous sponsors and run by Shepparton Youth Club United Cricket Club with Valley Sport and Cricket Victoria, organiser Maxine Piggott said,

“The students and participants were really excited about today and got out there and had a bit of a laugh. There were a few people who came up and said, I don’t play cricket but I’m happy to give it a go, and they all just gave it a crack and had a good time.

“All in all, it was a fabulous day made possible by volunteers and supporters. I know everyone had a wonderful day because I saw all the smiles out there on the field.”
