The Shepparton Heritage Centre’s History Hub celebrated their grand opening on Saturday. Located within the Scout Hall, adjacent to the History Museum, 156 Welsford Street, it is now open for research to the public and will be a space which celebrates the rich historical tapestry of the region.
The History Hub provides the community with research opportunities through their extensive Local Newspaper Archives spanning back to the early 1880’s, Greater Shepparton Archives, Extended History Library, and much, much more. The grand opening was a great success, and they are looking forward to welcoming the community through their doors.
“The event was informative and enjoyable by all that attended. Mr John Dainton’s (AM) visual and spoken presentation of ‘Shepparton’s Early History Buried Under Monash Park’ delved into the early township of Shepparton situated on the banks of the Goulburn River,” said Secretary Margaret Guppy on behalf of the Shepparton Heritage Centre Executive Committee.
“Everyone in attendance, with no doubt would have taken away a more informed understanding of the historical journey of Shepparton. The Shepparton Heritage Centre Executive Committee would like to express our gratitude to all that have made today successful.
A big shout out to our Committee Members, dedicated Volunteers, The Shepparton News, Goulburn Murray Scout District, Encounter Christian Church, and Community Members for your donations or loan of exhibits and memorabilia.”
Shepparton Heritage Centre (Museum) is open from Tuesday through to Sunday from 10:30-4.00pm.Shepparton Heritage Centre History Hub is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9.00am-1.00pm or via appointment.
