FAMILIES are encouraged to get out and about these holidays, with a large range of activities available as part of the Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) autumn school holidays program.

There is something for every kind of aspiring artist, with several events taking place throughout the break to help keep everyone creative and entertained.

On Friday, there will be an opportunity to learn a new skill and explore the mysteries of ancient Egypt with local artist, Maree Santilla. Bring out your child’s inner Indiana Jones with this unique opportunity to discover the history behind canopic jars – used by ancient Egyptians during the mummification process – by creating a contemporary version to keep. Following the success of last month’s event, this special archaeology activity is back by popular demand, so bookings are absolutely essential.

SAM cultural development public programs officer, Feyza Yazar said, “Every school holidays SAM hosts activities that encourage creative play and learning, piquing the curiosity of school-age creators.

“The activities are hosted indoors and outdoors throughout school holidays and often incorporate our current exhibitions. To keep up to date with what’s on, visit our website or Facebook page.”
