AS part of their ongoing commitment to helping children, local service group, Kiwanis Shepparton Sunrises, have donated a trailer to the Children First Foundation.
The Children First Foundation is a Kiwanis recognised charity that facilitates life changing surgery in Australia for disadvantaged children from developing countries. They have changed the lives of many, including conjoined twins, Nima and Dawa, who were 18 months old when they were flown from Bhutan for surgery at Melbourne’s Royal Children Hospital.
The organisation has a property near Kilmore that several community service groups give their time and labour to maintain. To this end, the Kiwanis Sunrisers have assisted the organisation with general maintenance.
The donated trailer will be for use on the property. It has been purchased locally from L.D.K. Custom Trailers and the artwork was provided by John King Signs.
The Kiwanis have an emphasis on helping children of the world, one child at a time, one community at a time. The Kiwanis Sunrises are active in the local community. ‘Sprout’, an edible native bush garden at Kidstown maintained by the Sunrisers, has been “growing in leaps and bounds” and is already being used by local groups.
The Kiwanis Sunrisers meet in the mornings, 7am until 8am, twice monthly on the 1st and 3rd Thursday at the Pines Motor Inn, Shepparton. They are always looking for new members and new ideas. Come and join them for breakfast and look at their Facebook page to see what they’re up to.
